PATON 400 Leakage Tester

The PATON 400 Leakage Tester is designed to allow a an engineer to test the leakage rate of a vehicles’ cabin. It is the mid-range machine in terms of performance and is also the longest running unit in production and is used the world over.


The PATON 400 Leakage Tester is designed to allow a an engineer to test the leakage rate of a vehicles cabin. The PATON 400 Leakage Tester works by pressurizing, or depressurizing, the vehicle under test to a specified pressure, and measuring the air volume flow generated to produce a leakage rate, or equivalent body hole size.
The PATON 400 can generate up to a maximum 400l/s of airflow over the 5 different nozzle sizes ranging from 15mm to 153mm in diameter. It is a primary measuring device which uses conical inlet nozzles and is the most accurate method of measuring the air leakage rate of a vehicles cabin.

As of 2015, all PATON 400 units are manufactured with the new Instrument Pod, the MKII Control Pod. The MKII control pod utilises new and improved software as well as a smaller form factor, and provides more functionality than the previous control pod. And as standard, the new control pod automatically includes PID Closed Loop Control test mode. Existing PATON 400 units can benefit from this new control system with the purchase of a replacement pod, or will have the option of receiving this new control pod with a full PATON 400 refurbishment.

The new PATON 400 MKII Pod has been designed to be intuitive to use and also very stable. Using all new technology and software, the new control pod is a marked improvement over the original control pod. It is also much lighter and smaller provides both Manual and Automatic test modes as standard.
The MK II Pod makes use of an easy to use 5 Button Keypad and a graphic LCD to provide the user with much more user friendly interface. It has a USB port that will allow you to stream data in real time to a connected computer.
